Two Pedestrians Injured in Chestertown Crosswalk Crash

4/23/2026

Two pedestrians were injured Wednesday evening after being struck by a vehicle in a crosswalk in downtown Chestertown, according to police.

Officers with the Chestertown Police Department responded around 6:53 p.m. to the intersection of High Street and Cross Street, along with crews from Kent and Queen Anne’s Rescue Squad and Kent County EMS.

Investigators say an 80-year-old man and a 66-year-old woman were legally crossing High Street when they were hit by a vehicle turning onto the roadway.

The woman suffered minor injuries, while the man sustained more serious injuries. Both were transported to University of Maryland Shore Medical Center at Chestertown for treatment.

Police identified the driver as 43-year-old Amanda Marie Wilson of Queenstown. She was cited for failure to stop for a pedestrian in a crosswalk and driving on a suspended license.

Wilson was released and is scheduled to appear in court at a later date.

The Kent County Sheriff’s Office and Chestertown Volunteer Fire Company assisted at the scene.
