Queen Anne’s County has announced the launch of a new County-Wide Public Safety Peer Support Team aimed at strengthening the mental health and resilience of first responders across the county.

In recent weeks, 24 peer supporters representing EMS, law enforcement, dispatch, corrections, and volunteer fire services completed specialized training. The training, led by Jeff Thompson in collaboration with For All Seasons, prepares participants to support colleagues dealing with stress, trauma, and other challenges related to public safety work.

As part of the initiative, the county is also partnering with For All Seasons as a third-party mental health provider, giving first responders access to confidential, professional counseling services in addition to peer-to-peer support.

County officials say the program will provide confidential assistance, critical incident response, wellness outreach, and help connect responders with additional resources when needed.

The Queen Anne’s County Commissioners support the initiative, emphasizing the importance of expanding mental health and wellness services for those who serve the community.

Officials say the goal is to build a culture where first responders can support one another both during difficult incidents and in their day-to-day work.
