Protest Held in Queenstown Against Federal ICE Tactics After Minneapolis Shooting

1/12/2026

Dozens of community members gathered in Queenstown this past weekend to protest federal immigration enforcement tactics in the wake of a controversial shooting that occurred in Minneapolis earlier this month.

Around 50 demonstrators stood along Route 301 South Saturday afternoon, holding signs and voicing opposition to the actions of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) following the recent death of a woman in Minneapolis during an ICE operation.

The Minneapolis incident, which sparked national attention, involved the fatal shooting of a 37-year-old woman by an ICE agent during an immigration enforcement action on Jan 7 — a case that has drawn widespread criticism from civil rights advocates and prompted protests across the country.

Participants in Queenstown’s demonstration expressed concerns about federal enforcement practices and called for changes to how immigration operations are carried out. Organizers say they want accountability and greater oversight of federal law enforcement actions in communities nationwide.

The rally remained peaceful, and there were no reports of arrests or clashes with authorities. Demonstrators dispersed later in the afternoon.

This local demonstration is part of a broader wave of protests held in cities and towns across the United States following the Minneapolis incident
