Maryland Board of Education to Meet March 24

​The Maryland State Board of Education will hold its next meeting on Tuesday, March 24, beginning at 9 a.m. in Baltimore.

During the meeting, board members will review calendar modification requests from local school systems for the current school year, along with updates on statewide math plans, the 2026 legislative session, and student service learning requirements.

In recognition of National Reading Month, the board will also honor five schools for their commitment to literacy instruction. The schools were selected based on strong participation and success in a Science of Reading training program.

The agenda also includes a stakeholder engagement session focused on arts education in Maryland schools.

The State Board is accepting public comment both in person and virtually. Participation is limited to 15 speakers and requires advance registration by March 20.
