Final Phase of Broadband Expansion Approved in Queen Anne’s CountY

1/12/2026

County officials say they are moving forward with efforts to connect the last remaining unserved homes and businesses in Queen Anne’s County to high-speed broadband internet.

Local leaders recently approved the next phase of the county’s broadband expansion plan, aimed at extending service to areas that currently lack reliable internet access. The initiative is part of a multi-year effort to improve connectivity for residents, businesses, and community organizations across the county.

According to county officials, the final phase will focus on properties that were previously difficult to reach due to location or infrastructure gaps. Work is expected to include building new broadband lines and upgrading existing networks to ensure all areas of the county are served.

County staff say the project is being supported by a combination of local funds and state broadband expansion grants. Officials emphasize that improved internet access is critical for education, remote work, healthcare, and economic development — particularly in rural areas.

Residents in the targeted areas will be contacted with details about installation timelines and any required preparations for service connections.

Officials say completing this final phase will bring the county closer to achieving universal broadband access, a long-standing priority for local government.
