Fire Damages Detached Garage in Marydel

​A fire caused significant damage to a detached garage in Marydel on Friday afternoon, according to the Maryland Office of the State Fire Marshal.

Firefighters were dispatched shortly before 4 p.m. to a property on Stafford Road after homeowners reported a fire in a one-story detached garage. The residents were home at the time and called 911. No injuries were reported.

About 25 firefighters responded to the scene, bringing the blaze under control in roughly one hour.

Officials estimate the fire caused approximately $260,000 in damage. The cause of the fire remains under investigation by the State Fire Marshal’s Office.
