Delmarva Power Expands Energy Assistance for Maryland Customers

1/14/2026

Delmarva Power has announced additional funding for its Customer Relief Fund as high winter energy costs continue to impact households across the Eastern Shore.

The utility said it is adding $500,000 to the relief fund, bringing its total customer assistance to $6.5 million over the past year. The additional funding comes from parent company Exelon and is intended to help more customers afford heating costs during the winter months.

Under the expanded program, eligible Maryland customers can now receive up to $500 per household, an increase from the previous $300 limit. The assistance applies to customers served by Delmarva Power, including many communities on the Eastern Shore.

Funding in Maryland is available through partnerships with local and regional organizations, including Shore UP!, the Salvation Army, Harford Community Action Center, and United Way of Delaware. Updated eligibility requirements are expected to make it easier for more households to qualify.

Delmarva Power says the relief fund works alongside its ongoing bill assistance and energy efficiency programs aimed at helping customers manage rising energy costs.
